2013 Funded Project: Smartpens to Enhance Writing in Students with an SLD in Written Expression

Granted: 4 Livescribe smartpen starter packs, 8 Livescribe single subject spiral notebooks, ink cartridges and smartpen apps to be used by students with specific learning disabilities.

Summary Description: Through the use of smartpen technology, students at Algonquin Regional High School who struggle with written expression can demonstrate their learning in the same way as those who write proficiently, taking notes, writing labs, and producing essay drafts and final pieces.  By removing the need for an adult scribing writing assignments, a student gains independence and improves his skills through practice on his or her own.
