2012 Funded Project: Listen While You Read

Granted: Funding to host a session and purchase 48 books and CDs to be checked out and used by students and families.

Summary Description: The English Language Learners Committee will sponsor Listen While You Read sessions at each of the four Northborough Public Schools. Families will be invited to attend a session at their neighborhood school, where ELLC members and educators will discuss the importance of literacy. ELLs will borrow cataloged audio books to practice the reading strategies learned during their English Language Development classes. Students will exchange reading materials over the course of the school year as well as over vacation periods. ELLs will be encouraged to maintain reading response journals.
